Vacant: The closest Philly is ever getting to TopShop

Let's be honest, Philly has the music scene on wrap. Without bragging this city has turned some heads and it's usually cause of what's coming out of the 215 (see Elevator Fight post).

Luckily word is we're getting a VACANT STORE possibly as soon as June. If you don't know what Vacant is here's the basics.
VACANT 101
They move into a random location in a city.
Open shop without really telling everyone.
Think sample sale of exclusive shoes, tshirts, clothes, and possibly art on the cheap.
Everyone get super hyped and they immediately close down shop about 2 months later.
Everyone cry and wail and search for the next one
So. This is why everyone needs to keep a look out cause the quicker it's found the more time we have. An American Apparel sell in Philly will make ya fight your friends.
In the meantime check out their Philly site
pr3ttyvacant.com or follow them at pr3ttyvacant on twitter. I don't know who runs their shit but it's pretty good. For instance, did you guys know Lily had a straight to hell cover?

Lifestyle Brands

I don't get em, at what point does a brand lose it's uniqueness and become "mainstreem?" Once they show up in high schools?

The first time they show up in a shopping mall?

The first time "cool" moms try and pull the brand off?

Does this guy have true style? Do you think he was voted "best dressed" in high school 6 years ago because he wore the most hollister of everyone?

What do you think is next? 1950's seemed to be the prevailing theme at urban. hm?

Fake blood

MUSIC BOMB

Fake blood are the dj's you think you've never heard till you hear someone talk about them and about then you check your little white mac book pro in white cause it reflects your artistic nature and individuality right? and check. yeah. every fifth song is probably remixed by fake blood cause they rock. in the modern sense if you don't find them on your library stop listening to girl talk and taking picture in American apparel. you suck.

Reminiscent of High School

Anyone miss high school? Anyone miss when Hollister was still cool? When shameless sex filled advertising worked? When walking in and smelling cheap Hollister Drift Cologne made you think of warm So. Co. Beaches instead of puking? When you "discovered" HelloGoodbye and thought they were so cool and didn't think of 12 year old girls in mini skirts and wanted to vom? I miss High School when I bought Lifestyle brands and didn't cynically look at the merchandising industry and just...bought it? Now even American Apparel hipster douche bags hard to believe.

Driving through small towns late at night drunk with friends. I miss it. Remember Jacks Mannequin? They remind me of those classic summer nights.

I know this is a weird post for my fans and i'm sorry but everyonce in a while, i think i miss a dark country road without crazy night clubs/parties/and real lives. Their song, Dark Blue was written by lead singer Andrew McMahon who
wrote it, after going through intense chemotherapy and his girlfriend (total bombshell) greeted him with nothing on and a dark blue light illuminating her body.
(i write this drunk, i think thats wear the reminiscing comes from)

Anyhow enjoy the song playing and the early 2000's throwback.
Heres the link to Jack's Mannequin webpage.
Heres the link to download the song Dark Blue which is playing right now.
